If you’re new here, Story Work is the name of my current book-in-progress. It describes a process of reflecting, reclaiming, and reimagining the stories of our lives. It involves looking at your life experiences as creative material that you have the power to shape.
The weekly story work topics cover universal life themes with references from literature, philosophy, science, and spirituality; offering perspectives that spark ideas for personal growth and creative expression.
Paid subscribers receive Story Work exercises every Sunday night at 8 pm et.
“Nobody looks like what they really are on the inside. You don’t. I don’t. People are much more complicated than that. It’s true of everybody.”
― Neil Gaiman
Hello hello,
What a mess of a world we are living in right now. Let’s put down the weight for a few moments and escape into our creative practice, shall we?
For the next few weeks, our Story Work theme is Ordinary People, and we’ll be exploring ourselves and the people in our lives as characters in our life stories.
What I love about writers, artists, creatives, healers and sensitive types from all walks of life is that we recognize the complexity of being a human with conflicting emotions and influences, and we’re endlessly curious about exploring these intricacies through our craft.
We know that every ordinary person has a unique story that made them who they are and that no ordinary person is all good or bad. We are intrigued by the entanglements that ordinary people find themselves in and the impact we have on each other.
What can we learn about ourselves by being more observant humans, through our art, our healing practices, how we make meaning, and the stories we tell about our lives?
For the next few weeks, the weekly story work exercises will ask you to reflect on the ordinary people in your life and the many ways they’ve affected your journey.
