Everything said in this post spoke deeply to me! Procrastination has been and still is the biggest struggle of my life.
I've gone through many stages - being confused, being disappointed with myself, being motivated out of spite, and trying all sorts of "hacks" to get things done. What proved most helpful so far is learning more about myself and being more self-compassionate while I try to do things.
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience and the ICNU framework, and for making me feel even more understood :)
Hi Milena! I'm so glad this was helpful! I've been through the blood, sweat, and tears with this, too. Well, at least the sweat and tears. LOL. And I realize now that all of the frustration was necessary to figure out what works and what helps and what doesn't and it truly is an ongoing process because sometimes a method or rhythm will work for me for a while and then it just doesn't anymore. But when that happens, what used to feel like struggling now feels more like experimentation and trial and error as my creative process evolves.
This is so true! We do want to get things done sincerely, so we struggle a lot and come on top eventually (short-lived usually, as you say). It is very frustrating when an approach stops working for us, but glad you got to the point where it feels more like experimentation rather than torture, think I'm there now too (or very close 😅)!
